Henry Stokes Tiffen. 1816 - 1896 died. Napier. No children.
TIFFEN CHILDREN Of seven children, one settled in France. This was Charlotte. ( 1815 - 1962). Two stayed behind: Charles Hart. and sister Amelia Wiginton ( nee Tiffen ) Individual Tiffen children migrated from Kent to New Zealand. Henry, at age 25.

The fourth child, Frederick Tiffen married Lucy Monteith. He ArriveD at age sixteen in 1846. He married at age 31.

Frederick John Tiffen (1846 - 1911).
Fred was the fourth Tiffen child. His brother Henry, who initiated the New Zealand adventure, was eight years older. They married in Wellington in 1859, the wedding breakfast at George and Elizabeth Monteith's ( deceased ) home on Dixon Street, Wellington. The Tiffen's parents were William and Charlotte Tiffen ( nee Stoakes ). William 1785 - 1855 Charlotte 1791 - 1876 Already, their daughter Charlotte, first born, 1815 - 1862 had moved to work in France with her husband. However, she died in 1862. Charlotte became Mrs Davenpore. The Davenports raised eight children.

Fred and Lucy raised seven children. This boy was the first son of the first child, Mary Tuke ( nee Tiffen ) He was Lawrence Godfrey Tuke. ( 1883 - 1929) Lawrence served in WWI. Recipient of the Military Cross. 1914 - 1920 Lived in Scotland after WWI. See references to his father, Charles Laurence Tuke, Anglican minister , and mother Mary ( nee Tiffen ) in CHAPTER ONE

* Tuke was the first other family name I learnt as a girl. Great Grandad and grandmother's first child, Mary, married a minister, Charles Tuke. He was Charles Lawrence. Dad had a photograph of the Tuke third son, Aubrey, in his photo album. Aubrey had been a farm shepherd in Hawkes Bay. Mary is seen young and older in CHAPTER ONE.
