Public gardens ' Places of congregation'

Jonathan Anderson. Clothing Designer. interview with Bella Freud 2026
1. It is impossible to ignore Tulleries Garden as that wonderful public place. I woke up this morning in 2026 and listened to this relaxed interview with a clothing designer. Compliments went to the readymade chairs.

One family photo 1830 in Paris
One family shot in Tuleries. 1830. Charles Hart Tiffen with his wife Carmellina, their son Charles and Carmellina's sister. Charles was a chemist in the wine trade.
A photo from my Tiffen familyTuileries Garden, Paris. Photograph. Charles Hart Tiffen (Chemist) (1826-1899) with his wife Esther Carmelina (1835 - 1912), on holiday in France. (Esther born Albenga, Italy, died Folkstone, Kent) her sister. and their son, Charles. Charles became a resident of Paris. His son William, too. Charles and his wife came out to visit us all in Hawkes Bay in 1959.*
* Hearing about both the Charles Tiffens and their engagement with the Riviera was my first family reference to my several 18th Century families knowing coasts and cities of Europe. e.g I had heard about Cannes in France, yet not the Italian coast until research time. I booked a ticket to Genoa in 2001, cancelling this later so as to spend more days in Rome.

2. 2011 Piano from: Michael Parekōwhai’s He Kōrero Pūrakau mo Te Awanui o Te Motu: Story of a New Zealand river for the symposium developed as part of the opening. This was on display at City Gallery, Wellington, with live performance. 2018. At Venice in 2011, an essay describes:'Described by the artist as the ‘beating heart’[2] of his 2011 Venice Biennale exhibition, On First Looking into Chapman’s Homer, He Kōrero Pūrakau mo Te Awanui o Te Motu: Story of a New Zealand river is a clever interplay between old worlds and new. From its Māori/English title, the collaboration between Parekōwhai and others for its actual making, and the players and audience needed to complete the work, this dazzling virtuoso work – a carved, playable Steinway concert grand piano, with an immaculate shiny finish – is simultaneously a Māori artwork and a European one.' 1 DETOUR By Michel Parekowhai. 20163.4.5.6A Michael Parekōwhai commissioned work to open Floor Five at Te Papa. https://www.tepapa.govt.nz/about/past-exhibitions/detour-michael-parekowhai
