William White, came into New Zealand on the George Fyfe. He married Miss Eliza Chitty Clendon from KeriKeri. They had two sons and ten daughters. They lived in Mangonui. Next generation, the ship captain’s grandson, William Bertram White (1863 - 1943) , records show, married a Tuhoi wahine in 1900. ’ He married Hui hui Noa. They had more than two children. They lived in Tuhoe country. That marriage ended. She missed her runanga and wanted to return. White then moved to a farm in Hawkes Bay, married again and had four more children.
